That is truly wonderful news. Be sure to congratulate her for us and tell her how proud we are of her. I have not heard from her mother yet, but your stepmother did send a care package with our contact information shortly after you left, so I can only hope she will call if she needs us. If you and Alessa cannot make it home for Thanksgiving, I can assure you that we will invite Margaret to spend it with us — though it should go without saying that we would invite her regardless. I know how you feel about me interfering in your personal life, but I do think you should be honest with Alessa about your concerns. The unfortunate truth is that, no matter how much you love her, you cannot protect her from everything, and I cannot do much for Margaret unless she asks for my help. Be safe and be well. Write soon.
